Information for LeagueSafe, FAO and Trainers

LeagueSafe

Mandatory Requirements

Mandatory Requirements

  • Must be registered as a trainer with the club
  • Must be at least 14 years old
  • Must have a NSW Working With Children Check (WWCC)
  • Complete NRL accredited Leaguesafe Course
  • Complete Patrons of the Game Module

  • Wear a yellow shirt, vest or jumper with the words 'LeagueSafe' clearly labelled on the back; and;
  • Wear appropriate enclosed footwear. 

U6-U12 Leaguesafes

U6-U12 Leaguesafes

U6-U12 Leaguesafes

Maximum of one (1) LeagueSafe Trainer is permitted to access the field of play at the following times only: 


  • After a try has been scored;
  • During a timeout called by the referee; and;
  • In the event of an injury, a LeagueSafe trainer can attend to the injured player until the First Responder arrives

U13+ Leaguesafes

U6-U12 Leaguesafes

U6-U12 Leaguesafes

Maximum of two (2) LeagueSafe Trainers are permitted to access the field of play at the following times only:


  • After a try has been scored;
  • During a timeout called by the referee; and;
  • In the event of an injury, a LeagueSafe trainer can attend to the injured player until the First Responder arrives
  • When their team is in possession of the football to conduct interchange and to provide water only.

League First Aid

 First Responders shall determine (in their absolute discretion) whether a player should continue in a match and, if so, when it is appropriate to resume playing.

  • Wear appropriate enclosed footwear.

First Responders must at all times during a match be in a position to respond quickly and access the field of play: 


  • To attend an injured or ill player; 
  • After a try has been scored; and 
  • During a timeout called by the referee. 


 First Responders shall determine (in their absolute discretion) whether a player should continue in a match and, if so, when it is appropriate to resume playing.

  • Assess player injuries sustained during training and playing.
  • Report all injury concerns to the coach and club.
  • Liaise regularly with club’s Sports Trainer Co-ordinator.
  • Ensure that all necessary team first aid equipment is available.
  • Ensure the various equipment required by the team is available: for example ice packs.
  • Undertake Head Injury/Concussion training as required.
  • Ensure compliance with Concussion protocols if any head injuries or suspected concussions are identified.

Notes

On-Field Injuries

  • Player injury can only be determined by a qualified First Responder – that is a League First Aid, Level 1 Sports Trainer or Level 2 Sports Trainer 
  • No player with suspected head or neck injuries is permitted to be moved from the field except where further risk injury may occur and only under the supervision of a suitability qualified persons(s). An Ambulance shall be called immediately to take charge of the care of the injured player.    
  • Sports Trainers must remain quiet and seated at the bench unless they are undertaking their duties
